– Are we really headed towards Armageddon?

Over our country’s history, there have been a handful of events which have defined who we are as Americans, such as our Declaration of Independence from Great Britain, our Civil War, our participation in World War II, and the protests of the 1960’s. These events defined who we are, our personality as a country, our determination in the face of adversity, and how we treat others as well as ourselves. All have come at a heavy price in terms of human life and the reconstruction of society. Such moments come along rarely and we should be mindful of their effect on our country.

We are now on the verge of another epoch event which will define who we are and what we want our country to be. Never before has there been such a disparity in our choices for the election in November. Conservatives want an America with smaller and less intrusive government; they have a fervent belief in capitalism and the free enterprise system. This of course means fiscal responsibility. Liberals on the other hand want more government, and truck loads of entitlement which we can no longer afford. By increasing taxes we are redistributing the wealth of this country and discouraging entrepreneurship and encouraging businesses to move off our shores. Is taxing the answer, or cutting our spending? As anyone who has had to manage personal finances or balance a budget can tell you, we must learn to live within our means. Even cities controlled by Democrat administrations facing bankruptcy know this, such as Scranton, PA and Stockton, CA. Not since Nixon/McGovern in 1972 have we seen such disparity among the citizens of this country, but it is even more pronounced in 2012. There are two distinctly different interpretations of America which are simply incompatible.

One thing is for certain, there are only three possible outcomes from the November elections: gridlock as we have experienced over the past two years, a liberal state, or a conservative state. As we have seen, gridlock will paralyze the country, and the last two options will likely cause civil insurrection. Liberals are simply not interested in living in a country as defined by Conservatives, and Conservatives cannot abide the Liberal’s view of the world. Consequently, the elections of November 6th represents a defining moment which will affect our destiny.

Do we take charge of our fiscal affairs or let it continue to run unabated?

Do we establish an environment encouraging business and jobs, or tax and regulate them into obscurity?

Do we continue to adhere to the U.S. Constitution or do we devise a new form of government?

Do we want to promote personal initiative and individual responsibility or establish a nanny state?

Do we want government to exercise control over business or do we want government to be a servant of the people?

Should Socialism supersede Capitalism?

We’ll make these choices on November 6, 2012; an epoch event for the history books. Half of the country will interpret it as doomsday, and the other half will see it as a day of salvation. As to our defining moment: We will either survive this tempest or be devoured by it. The world will be watching.

“You and I are now on the same track in our thinking and wondering what is ahead of us. The one problem I see is that the one party has not yet told us what they would do if they won the presidential race. The only thing I see is a walk backwards. That would have wasted all the time that we took when moving ahead.

We then have to remain on the road we have been taking. At least we know what is ahead and how to fix it. Taking a chance is too great a risk, going forward to the unknown is not what the public want or would be good for not only our nation, but for the world itself.

When a child hurts their finger we wash it and medicate it and put a bandaid on it so it will heal. We do not just chop off the finger and see if it heals.

I liken this to this election we have before us. We know the finger needs to be fixed. So we, as a nation should move together to fix it. We do not cut off the finger.

With the one party, we move back and start all over again. We literally cut off the finger.

With the other party, we already know that the finger is broken, so we find a fix for it.

Both parties should together, fix what is wrong with this country and not pit one against the other and certainly do not move backwards and lose the good that occurred during the last four years.

But with the one party, money is their goal and it would be geared to the already rich, with the middle class disappearing and the poor….well there will be no help for them,

I have been around long enough to remember how this country grew great!. I remember the Great Depression and how people reacted. Many jumped out of windows because their wealth had gone.

But, we got through it and in its place this America became great!. If both parties would see this as a way of helping our country, instead of thinking of their pocket books, this country will survive.

If however, it goes the wrong way, and only the money hungry take control, all I see ahead is the Roman Empire and pure destruction and the leadership going to China.

Is this what we want? I have already been where you younger people are going. Think hard before you vote! It is your life you are going to voting for!. Do you want to go back? or Move Ahead?”

    TIM’s REPLY:

    Dear S.C. –

Thanks for your note. I guess it comes down to perspective doesn’t it? I would contend that we have been going backwards over the last four years, certainly not forward. I personally believe we have an amateur at the helm steering the ship without a rudder, going in circles. I have never seen a time in our existence, as we do today, where we do not know what our priorities are or where we should be going. Theoretically, we are supposed to be a super-power leading the free world. Unfortunately, we seem to have a propensity for shooting ourselves in the foot, thereby losing the respect of the world community, both friend and foe.

Yes, the elections will represent an epoch event where we will define who we are. Needless to say, it will be interesting.

“Tim, I’ve seen the disparity between candidates widen increasingly with each election. There no longer seems to be any common ground between Conservatives and Liberals. They are poles apart on nearly every issue, which means that the American people are sharply and even bitterly divided. A nation so divided is more susceptible to attack from outside and destruction from within. We need to vote and pray.”

“We can not go the way of the liberal and give up our freedom. We will be taken over and have no rights. We have let government create a lazy dependent society. We let them take prayer out of school and political correctness destroy common sense and what is right. Christians have dropped the ball by being nice and polite instead of being the salt of the earth. We stand now or forever be at war amoung ourselves. God Bless America.”

“We have definitely come to the cross roads of our destination. Are we mice or men? If by some horrible action, Obama gets a second term, what do we do? I can not abide by the governing of the liberal minded who would enslave all Americans that still want freedom and chose our own mind about our lives and how we would go about out daily business. I would have to stand and fight before I will let my freedoms be taken away from me. So if any man out in the real world decides to make me do these kind of things that I truly do not want to do, well, all I can say is the fight will be on and may the GOD of our creation stand with us as we take back our freedoms and rights as they were given,,,no,,,taken by ourselves by the hands of our fore fathers who fought and died to have us take what is rightfully ours by the birth of being an American..GOD BLESS AMERICA AND HEAVEN HELP THOSE WHO TRY TO TAKE MY FREEDOMS AWAY FROM ME….”:
