“Oh the parallels to our current national fiasco. And I agree to postpone til we get more info.”

    A C.T. of Safety Harbor, Florida wrote…

“But isn’t that how everything is done today? It is always an emotional vote, they will try and ram the light rail down our throats the same way. We don’t debate the merits anymore just try and find the rhetoric that will tug at the heart strings.”

    Great food for thought, Tim. . . . .

Waiting for the results of the feasibility study makes sense. . . .Otherwise we will have another “Vote for it first to find out what is in the bill
    ” scenario!

“I agree with you. Remember the Harborview boondoggle? Now there was a white elephant! Still is. But to pin hopes on a dolphin (cute as she is) is insanity. I remember the problem the Tampa aquarium had getting up and running. When we first went there, Tampa was banking on development all around it and it still doesn’t have it.

And really – once you’ve been there, when do you go again? I would also vote No if I still lived in Clearwater.

Thanks for the column which was great. Makes you think, which we all need to do more often instead of just accepting. “

“You could easily say “wait for all the facts before voting” on ANY issue. The problem is, some of the decisions being made by voters are made on the basis of incomplete facts, misleading information from one side or the other.”

“This is one of many reasons I will vote NO. I have waited for years for the city leaders, mostly elected officials, to keep to the plan and take down the Harborview Center and develop the bluff into a wonderful park that would serve residents and tourists too. You just have to look at Largo’ s Central Park and realize we could do something similar to that and maybe add a passive water fountain element and it will be well used by many people. Every time they get close someone comes along trying to grab public space.

Why did the city even pay the restaurant Pickles Plus $688,000 only to turn around two weeks later and let the space be leased by CMA? I am sure that some city officials were aware that they were going to come forward asking for the space. Something about this doesn’t pass the smell test. Too many people working behind our backs trying to manipulate the outcome.

I know they are telling us that no city money will be spent but the money can get spent in ways they don’t talk about. How much taxpayer money is being spent getting staff to work on all the necessary details to process the CMA proposal?”
