– Which side is winning?

To use this segment in a Radio broadcast or Podcast, send TIM a request.

It is not much of a secret the Democrats have a divided party. One side consists of “moderates,” representing traditional party values, and the other consisting of “extreme-Leftists,” representing radical politics, such as Socialism, the New Green Deal, and a plethora of entitlements. The question is, which side is winning? In 2019, and for the first time ever, a Gallup Poll noted the majority of the party classified themselves as “liberals.” This is to be expected as the Democrats began to turn extreme-left in 2016 when Sen. Bernie Sanders, an Independent from Vermont, began preaching his far-left dogma on the campaign trail to the Democrats. This opened the door in 2018 allowing extremist Democrats to be voted into the House of Representatives, e.g., Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14) (aka, “AOC”), Rep. Ilhan Omar (MN-5), Rep. Ayanna Pressley (MA-7), and Rep. Rashida Tlaib (MI-13).

We are now in the early stages of the political primary season, and already we are learning more about Democrat inclinations from the voters. Between the Iowa Caucus and New Hampshire primary, Sen. Bernie Sanders and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (MA), both generally acknowledged as representatives of the extreme-Left, pulled approximately 40% of the votes cast. This leaves approximately 60% for the other Democrat candidates. Some would claim Mayor Pete Buttigieg, former VP Joe Biden, and Sen. Amy Klobuchar are “moderates,” but their background suggests otherwise as they subscribe to liberal doctrine. None could possibly be accused of being a conservative. All support abortion, open borders, health care, and additional entitlements. So much so, the Democrats are now referred to as the party of “giveaways.”

The fact there is a 60/40 split in the party suggests the majority of Democrats are traditionalists and do not necessarily embrace radical concepts like Socialism. Yet, if front-runner Sen. Bernie Sanders lands the nomination, this is precisely what the party will ask Democrats to accept.

News reports claim voter turnout was down in both Iowa and New Hampshire. I could not verify this, but if it is true, why? Three possible reasons: general voter apathy, people believe there isn’t a candidate who can beat President Trump, or more likely, the extreme-Left leanings are turning off traditional Democrats. Apathetic voters do not bode well for the party as we approach the elections.

The perspective of the party split is still a bit hazy, but will become clearer following the primaries of Nevada, South Carolina, and Super Tuesday. After this, we should have a complete picture of who is leading the party, “moderates” or the “extreme-Left.”

As an aside, the New Hampshire primary also had a Republican contest. At this time, President Trump received approximately 128K votes, representing the largest voter approval by an incumbent President in history, easily trouncing the last three incumbent Presidents:

2020 – Donald Trump – 128,781
2012 – Barack Obama – 49,080
2004 – George W. Bush – 53,962
1996 – Bill Clinton – 76,797

The President received strong support as he has energized his base through a solid economy and anti-extreme-Left policies. It appears the more he is attacked by the Democrats, the stronger he becomes politically.

So, are the Democrats prepared to accept extreme-Left doctrine? Maybe, but the American people overall are not. Either way, this will be an awkward election for the Democrats.

Keep the Faith!

” I don’t think it will be awkward, I believe it’s gonna be a complete blowup, and blowout. Americans don’t want extreme left policies for themselves,or for their children! Its looking to me like most Americans are just completely fed up with the Dem party, and their accusations, and do nothing good record. The SOTU address told a great many people just how they view this country, the presidents office, and the American people. They hate all of us, and the country too. They were all dressed in white, all they lacked was their white hoods!!! I left the left, and I’m never going back as long as i live..”

“You ask a great question. To be brief, as I’ve said, the Repub party is so much more organized than the Dems. If you step out of line in the Repub party, you’re a “RINO”. If you go against Trump, in any way, you are at risk of being thrown out of the party. On the other hand, the Dems have many ideologies, but all are under the Dem umbrella. Hence, your question. If the moderate Dems united, the left under Bernie would lose. So, which side is winning? The Trumpicans, for sure.”

I often wonder about primaries. As you know in FL, you can only vote in a primary for the party to which you are registered. As I’m a registered Libertarian, I cannot vote in either the DNC or GOP primaries. This has me tempted to register as a Dem just so I can cast a vote in the primaries for the worst possible candidate. I see this as folly but fun, just to mess with them. But it begs the question as some states allow anyone to vote in any primary. So it makes me wonder how many Rs choose an extremist like Sanders or Warren just because they know Trump will crush them. I’m guessing not many, but it would an interesting movement.

I cannot help but think that if Sanders does not land the Democrat nomination that he will split off and run on an independent platform. This would spell a further 2020 disaster for the Dems as it would significantly split their voter base in the general election further assuring Trump’s chances of winning. In fact, Bloomberg could likely do the same in that he has not really participated up to this point but merely bombarded television viewers with boring ad content. “Mike Can Do It” is not winning a lot of votes within the party thus I think his only chance of running would be as an independent candidate. While it would not create as much of a voter split as Sanders, it would not be good. At the same time, if both Bloomberg and Sanders pursue the independent route, that leaves little on the bone for the Democrat nominee. No doubt, insiders in the DNC, are looking for a way to con this shell game away from the Leftist–but how? Nice piece, Tim!

“In Which Direction are the Democrats Heading? I think it’s kind of obvious.

Democrats are corrupt and are poisonous to taxpayers and their families. Be it Joe Biden, Sanders, Bloomberg, Pete or Elizabeth Warren. They all follow the left’s radical hyena’s of Nancy Pelosi, Sheila Jackson Lee, Maxine Waters, Al Green, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Talib, Ayanna Pressley, llhan Omar, Val Deming, and Hakeem Jeffries.

If you vote Democrat, this is what you’ll get….

    -Sanctuary Cities & States..

-Decriminalize illegal entry into our country.

    -De-fund & terminate Border Patrol & ICE.

-End all deportations of illegal aliens (if you get here, you stay.)

    -Drivers licenses for illegal aliens.

    -Voting rights for illegal aliens.

-Late term abortions up to 9 months.

-Opposed to ANY voter ID Laws.

    -Weaken our Military.

-Destruction of all private health care (Bernie Sanders & Elizabeth Warren)

    -The Green new deal.

-Free medicare care for all including illegal aliens (taxpayer funded with a 52 trillion price tag)

-Free college for all, including illegal aliens. (tax payer funded) Sanders-Warren

    -Disarming Americans.

-Non citizens allowed to hold public office.

-Citizenship for millions of illegal aliens & TPS.

    -Massive tax increases.

    -Open Borders.

-Welfare & Food Stamps for illegal aliens. (Warren/Sanders)

  11. The goal is most definitely Socialism/Marxism.
In 1963, when I was in Catholic school 5th grade, my teacher (a nun) passed out the List of 45 Communist Goals– that was entered into the 1963 Congressional Record.
She begged us to please read and remember this list, even if there were things that we didn’t understand. She said, “I won’t be alive when they complete their goals, but you will. And you are going to be one of the last groups that will remember the way it ‘used to be’ in this country, because they are coming into the schools to teach the young children…and…..
She was so upset, she couldn’t talk anymore. She sat down at her desk, put her head down, and started crying (which is why I remember that day so clearly). I was only 9 years old.
I heard some of the same things at a University in 2011, and I was alarmed.
It took me a while, but I found a copy of the 1963 Congressional Record with the list of 45 Communist goals that I read 57 years ago! It starts in the 3rd column (note that most of the goals have already been accomplished). It is very clear to see that #15, #16, #17, #19, #20, #21, #27, #28, #30, #33, #38, #42 are in progress right now. Please read!
