WHERE DOES THE HATE COME FROM?

BRYCE ON POLITICS

– How people use the Internet to vent their rage at Republicans.

Last week it was pointed out to me that most of the protests over coronavirus shutdowns in Democrat controlled states were by Republicans, particularly in Michigan, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Critics thought the protesters were being unreasonable in combating the virus and hateful towards the government. As Democrats have said when they protest, this is nothing more than a First Amendment right of the people to peaceably assemble. Yes, they are upset with the governors in terms of wanting to reopen the state so they can go back to work, but this is far from bring offensive.

What I find particularly hateful and vicious is the discourse from Democrats eminating from Twitter, the popular social media platform. Recently, I discovered several hashtag accounts representing some rather nasty people, to wit:

Republicans are destroying America – one user contended, “Where is the racist group GOP? Oh that’s right, they don’t give a crap cause they agree with and enable a racist, lying, xenophobic, corrupt reality TV figure. Kudos GOP, you are a stain on America.” (And this was one of the nicer entries).

Republicans for Biden – Interestingly, most people in this group fail to identify themselves. I therefore suspect it is a fraud perpetrated by someone else.

Republicans Virus – this is used to blame the GOP for the devastation of the COVID-19 panic.

Republicans Are Killing Us – Another forum to blame Republicans for the virus.

GOP Corruption Over Country – a lot of nasty accusations here.

GOP Genocide – Here, again, the GOP is painted as baby killers.

Trump Lies, People Die – more accusations of incompetence and carelessness.

Not My President – more name calling (including “Deplorables”) and finger pointing.

The hate from these groups is massive and unimaginable. Frankly, I was surprised that nobody was reprimanded by Twitter for their tongue. Interestingly, I earnestly sought Republican counterparts to these groups using words such as those shown above along with others. The closest thing I could find was:

Democrats the Enemy Within – accusations of wrong-doing, but without the venom.

Democrats Hate America – pretty much the same.

This was all I could find in this regard. This either means Republicans are either more civil in their discourse or perhaps this is another instance of censorship by social media to favor Democrats.

Keep in mind, this is but one social media, there are many others also producing such venom.

The hate spewed forward by the Democrats is reckless and scary. However, if they are trying to intimidate the Republicans, I think their rhetoric is backfiring on them as it is forcing Republicans closer together as opposed to scaring them off.

All of this hints at the problems people have with the Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS). At first, I thought this to be a joke, but now I’m convinced it is a legitimate problem. How do you know you have TDS, well, to paraphrase comedian Jeff Foxworthy:

“You might have Trump Derangement Syndrome if…”

– you blame the President for everything.

– you believe Nancy Pelosi & Chuck Schumer only have the best interests of the country in mind.

– you see nothing wrong with the shenanigans of Antifa.

– you believe AOC is a brilliant intellectual.

– you think it’s time to replace the Constitution with something else.

– you believe Socialism should supersede Capitalism.

– you believe you are entitled to a plethora of freebies, including education, housing, etc.

– you still live in the basement of your parents’ house.

I just wish curing Trump Derangement Syndrome was as simple as giving everyone a dose of saltpeter.

Keep the Faith!

IN WHICH DIRECTION ARE THE DEMOCRATS HEADING?

Posted by Tim Bryce on February 18, 2020

BRYCE ON POLITICS

– Which side is winning?

Click for AUDIO VERSION.
To use this segment in a Radio broadcast or Podcast, send TIM a request.

It is not much of a secret the Democrats have a divided party. One side consists of “moderates,” representing traditional party values, and the other consisting of “extreme-Leftists,” representing radical politics, such as Socialism, the New Green Deal, and a plethora of entitlements. The question is, which side is winning? In 2019, and for the first time ever, a Gallup Poll noted the majority of the party classified themselves as “liberals.” This is to be expected as the Democrats began to turn extreme-left in 2016 when Sen. Bernie Sanders, an Independent from Vermont, began preaching his far-left dogma on the campaign trail to the Democrats. This opened the door in 2018 allowing extremist Democrats to be voted into the House of Representatives, e.g., Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14) (aka, “AOC”), Rep. Ilhan Omar (MN-5), Rep. Ayanna Pressley (MA-7), and Rep. Rashida Tlaib (MI-13).

We are now in the early stages of the political primary season, and already we are learning more about Democrat inclinations from the voters. Between the Iowa Caucus and New Hampshire primary, Sen. Bernie Sanders and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (MA), both generally acknowledged as representatives of the extreme-Left, pulled approximately 40% of the votes cast. This leaves approximately 60% for the other Democrat candidates. Some would claim Mayor Pete Buttigieg, former VP Joe Biden, and Sen. Amy Klobuchar are “moderates,” but their background suggests otherwise as they subscribe to liberal doctrine. None could possibly be accused of being a conservative. All support abortion, open borders, health care, and additional entitlements. So much so, the Democrats are now referred to as the party of “giveaways.”

The fact there is a 60/40 split in the party suggests the majority of Democrats are traditionalists and do not necessarily embrace radical concepts like Socialism. Yet, if front-runner Sen. Bernie Sanders lands the nomination, this is precisely what the party will ask Democrats to accept.

News reports claim voter turnout was down in both Iowa and New Hampshire. I could not verify this, but if it is true, why? Three possible reasons: general voter apathy, people believe there isn’t a candidate who can beat President Trump, or more likely, the extreme-Left leanings are turning off traditional Democrats. Apathetic voters do not bode well for the party as we approach the elections.

The perspective of the party split is still a bit hazy, but will become clearer following the primaries of Nevada, South Carolina, and Super Tuesday. After this, we should have a complete picture of who is leading the party, “moderates” or the “extreme-Left.”

As an aside, the New Hampshire primary also had a Republican contest. At this time, President Trump received approximately 128K votes, representing the largest voter approval by an incumbent President in history, easily trouncing the last three incumbent Presidents:

2020 – Donald Trump – 128,781
2012 – Barack Obama – 49,080
2004 – George W. Bush – 53,962
1996 – Bill Clinton – 76,797

The President received strong support as he has energized his base through a solid economy and anti-extreme-Left policies. It appears the more he is attacked by the Democrats, the stronger he becomes politically.

So, are the Democrats prepared to accept extreme-Left doctrine? Maybe, but the American people overall are not. Either way, this will be an awkward election for the Democrats.

Keep the Faith!

WHAT I HAVE LEARNED ABOUT THE DEMOCRATS

Posted by Tim Bryce on November 14, 2019

BRYCE ON POLITICS

– The nuances by which they operate.

Click for AUDIO VERSION.
To use this segment in a Radio broadcast or Podcast, send TIM a request.

I have been active in politics for nearly 48 years now as a Republican and have witnessed many changes to the party over the years. I have campaigned for candidates, served on political board of directors, served as a correspondent at political events, and have written about politics for well over a decade. As a political pundit, I am pleased to have correctly predicted the outcome of the 2016 and 2018 elections, and No, I certainly didn’t do it by studying the polls (which are useless).

I have also watched as the Democrats have shifted from moderate positions to the far left. When I write about the Democrats I can always expect some visceral rebuttal. From this, I have learned some of their fundamental characteristics:

1. Democrats do not know how to argue, only attack. This is particularly true in Letters to the Editor or on-line replies. They usually rely on visceral sarcasm and obscene expletives to make their point in a Pavlovian type of response. This reflects their hatred and attempt to discredit the author by assassinating his/her character. Some have been so offensive, I have seen such postings automatically deleted by a publication. My question is, can you not argue without becoming belligerent?

Quite often, the Democrats set down a smoke screen in order to create a diversion and not answer a pointed question. They regularly parrot talking points as prescribed by the media. For example, they accuse President Trump of being a liar, a racist, a homophobic, xenophobic, etc. They have repeated it so often, they treat it as gospel. In reality, there is no evidence to indicate he is any of these things, only conjecture.

In my case, I have also noted Democrats do not read an article in its entirety, resulting in convoluted comments totally unrelated to the subject at hand. Strange.

Democrats honestly think they are smarter than everyone else; as such, they believe they are the only ones who know what is best for the country. Their arrogance is their Achilles’ Heel and explains why they look upon the president’s supporters as “deplorables” who are condemned for their “inferior intellects.” This also contributes to their problem in arguing a point as Democrats believe it is below their dignity to argue with deplorables, only to dismiss them outright.

Democrats tend to see a conspiracy in everything they oppose which is why they insist on political correctness. Again, only their views are considered acceptable. This implies they want control, not compromise.

So, how do you argue with a Democrat? Stick to the facts and your principles. On-line, they do not believe in a fair debate, and rely on vicious discourse instead. As such, do not waste your time arguing with them. Also, in a public setting, do not allow yourself to be baited. The worst thing you can do is to engage in a heated rhubarb and be dragged down to their level where you may say something inappropriate and lose the respect of your audience. It is just not worth it.

2. Democrats understand the power of culture control. Not surprising, they set the trends in fashion, music, entertainment, and news media, anything appealing to the five senses. By doing so, they subliminally influence the perceptions of people as to what should be right and wrong.

Not surprising, they are mindful of the power of symbols which they either embrace or disgrace, such as the Black Lives Matter Flag vs. the Police Thin Blue Line American Flag, desecration of historical symbols, and treatment of patriotic icons, such as the American flag. In my travels with the press corps, it was rather obvious they choose their party over God and country.

Democrats have the luxury of controlling the public narrative, thanks, in large part, to their incestuous relationship with the news media. The morality of the Democrats is not the same as the public’s. This was revealed not long ago by a Gallop Report, all because they are acutely aware of controlling the culture.

The party’s political campaign playbook has long been that prescribed by Saul Alinsky, author of the book, “Rules for Radicals: A Practical Primer for Realistic Radicals Paperback.” Alinsky, of course, is the well known Socialist community organizer who greatly affected the political schemes of President Obama, and Secretary Hillary Clinton. In a nutshell, his underlying theme in terms of politics is, “All is fair in love and war.” This includes cheating and deceit in political campaigns.

3. Democrats do not assume responsibility for their actions. This became rather obvious recently with the resignation of Rep. Katie Hill (D-CA) after reports surfaced of alleged sexual indiscretions with a congressional staffer and an admission to a relationship with a campaign aide. In her final speech on the House floor, she blamed others for revealing her indiscretions and claimed the role of victim. There was no admission she was at fault, that someone else must be.

4. Democrats believe they can buy votes simply by offering free goods and services. To illustrate, programs such as the Green New Deal, Medicare for All, and Free College Tuition, may sound nice to the uninformed, but the country simply cannot afford to implement any of it. These programs appeal to people who want a free lunch which simply doesn’t exist as somebody has to pick up the bill. Somehow the Democrats have forgotten what President Kennedy, of their party, said at his inauguration, “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.” Today, it is just the reverse.

So far the Democrats have been playing with money in the trillions of dollars. Let’s hope they never discover what “quadrillion” means as they would spend it.

Most politicians tell the people what they want to hear. Conversely, President Trump tells the people what they need to hear. There is a difference.

Conclusion

I am certain my old moderate Democrat friends will argue with me on these points, but I would remind them it is a new day in Democrat politics. This is no longer your father’s Democrat party. However, I’ll be interested to read their response to this. Let’s see if they know how to effectively argue.

THE DEMOCRAT PARTY IMPLODES

Posted by Tim Bryce on September 26, 2019

BRYCE ON POLITICS

– Why the hysteria of the Democrats?

Click for AUDIO VERSION.
To use this segment in a Radio broadcast or Podcast, send TIM a request.

As the 2020 political campaign intensifies, we are witnessing some rather strange phenomena; for example:

The Democrat controlled House Judiciary Committee struck out with the Mueller investigation, but they are still bent on pursuing presidential impeachment, even though there is no evidence to support it. This is being done to placate the far-left Democrats, not moderates who are weary of such shenanigans and want to see the Congress tackle legitimate problems. In a nutshell, the committee investigation is for show only as the Democrats know they cannot possibly impeach the president as it will not pass the Republican controlled Senate, but they want to keep their base in line for the coming election by demonstrating their hatred for Mr. Trump.

Left-wing Democrats in Congress are also at odds with moderates of their own party. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is having trouble keeping the radical newcomers in line. Some of these people are openly undermining members of their own party for political purposes. For example, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) recently threw her support to a progressive congressional candidate in Illinois instead of incumbent Rep. Dan Lipinski, a moderate Democrat. The message is clear, the far-left wants the moderates out.

In the presidential race, far-left Democrats are desperately trying to push moderate candidate VP Joe Biden out of the race, not just because he is currently the front runner but because he is not an uber-liberal. There is a very good chance this will happen, and I believe a far-left candidate will get the nod instead, such as Sen. Elizabeth Warren.

As I keep saying to my old Democrat friends, this is no longer your father’s party. It is not the party of Kennedy, LBJ, Carter and the Clintons. As liberal as these people seemed at the time, they are considered conservative by today’s standards. Instead, it has morphed into the far-left who have seized control of the party, with encouragement from the media.

What we are watching is actually quite fascinating as it ultimately represents the death-roll of the Democrats. The party is hopelessly fractured and, as a result, we will likely see a new party emerge following the election, either a far-left version or a moderate. As the far-left wrestles away control from the moderates, they will likely lose the support of traditional Democrats who will stay home election day. They may not be able to bring themselves to vote for Mr. Trump, but they also cannot stomach the zaniness of the far-left.

This division means one thing, Mr. Trump will run away with the election. Whoever the Democrat candidate becomes, Mr. Trump will trounce the person on the debate stage, particularly when it comes to economics, which the Democrats are trying to offset by claiming a fake recession is in the offing. Bottom-line, Mr. Trump will do just fine, but what about congressional Republicans? If they abandon the president, they will be the ones taking the risk, not the president.

One thing is clear, the Democrats offer no platform other than Socialism and Trump-bashing, believing this will carry them to victory next year. The only thing they have successfully created is a hysteria to comfort their supporters and terrorize the general public, all of which denotes their desperation. It is no longer about issues, it is about panic.

The American public however is tired of the hateful histrionics and desperately wants to see the country tackle real problems, thus presenting the Republicans with a golden opportunity, namely: a new Contract with America.

The first Contract with America was written back in 1994 by Republican Representatives Newt Gingrich and Dick Armey. It was positive and upbeat, and the public took notice thereby allowing the GOP to finally retake the House, under a Democrat President no less (Bill Clinton). To their credit, they followed the contract and made sweeping reforms.

This is just the type of thing necessary for the Republicans to take back the House and secure their position in the Senate. If they were to introduce a new contract, it would go a long way to re-instilling confidence in the party.

We do not lack for areas to address in a new contract; immigration, health care, infrastructure, lobbying reform, term limits, reducing the debt, election reform, energy and environment, all come to mind immediately. This would show true initiative, something the Democrats are incapable of producing at this time. They only want oddball things to secure their control over the government, such as eliminating the Electoral College, changing the number and tenure of Supreme Court justices, lowering the voting age to 16, giving illegal immigrants the right to vote and massive entitlements, and The New Green Deal (aka, the “Socialist Manifesto”).

To make a new Contract though requires leadership, a la Newt Gingrich, but I am afraid I do not yet see this person in the Republican House ranks, except possibly coming from the House Freedom Caucus. A new contract is nice, but new Republican leadership is needed to make it happen. Milquetoast candidates need not apply.

Again, a new Contract for America is a golden opportunity to re-take the Congress and actually do some good for the country. Let the Democrats desperately squawk about President Trump all they want. While they turn the country off doing this, the Republicans could create a contract with substantial legislation. The far-left will not be interested, but most of America certainly will, at least those who want to see our Congress return to work.

Should the Republicans fail to produce such a compact, they will be admitting they are nothing more than a part of the Washington “establishment,” and don’t deserve our votes.

Keep the Faith!

CAN WE FIND A MIDDLE GROUND?

Posted by Tim Bryce on July 30, 2019

BRYCE ON POLITICS

– I think we all know the answer.

Click for AUDIO VERSION.
To use this segment in a Radio broadcast or Podcast, send TIM a request.

The talking heads of the main stream media have been asking for the Democrats and Republicans to find a middle ground and work together towards common goals. I’m sure a lot of Americans feel likewise.

The Democrats insist President Trump needs to stop tweeting, and the Republicans want the other side to stop lying. When you push either side, both claim innocence, and neither side have any intention of stopping as they do not trust each other.

Both chambers of Congress haven’t accomplished anything of real substance in this century other than to go to war. There is much to be done, such as in the areas of economics, immigration, infrastructure, space, health care, etc. Unfortunately, we are stalled in neutral thanks to partisan politics.

The concept of moderate politics is now a thing of the past. The last presidential candidate to run as a moderate was Sen. John McCain in 2008 who would have certainly reached across the aisle to Democrats, but this didn’t happen as the country elected a progressive Democrat instead, Barack Obama, a president which snubbed the other side. Shortly after being elected, President Obama met with Congressional Republicans to discuss his proposed financial stimulus package. As negotiations wore down, he made the now infamous comment to Rep. Eric Cantor, “Elections have consequences, and at the end of the day, I won. So I think on that one I trump you.”

This quote by Pres. Obama was a defining moment separating the two parties for the rest of his term in office. Other presidents made an effort to work with the opposition, even though they had political differences, such as President Ronald Reagan (R) and Speaker Tip O’Neill (D), along with President Bill Clinton (D) and Speaker Newt Gingrich (R), but Pres. Obama made it clear, he was not interested in what the Republicans had to say and saw them as an impediment to his agenda. This is why he tried to implement his agenda through executive orders as opposed to legislation. By doing so, it was rather easy for Pres. Obama’s successor, President Donald Trump, to negate the orders.

The point is, the line in the sand had been drawn and has carried forward to today. Gridlock has become the norm in Washington, DC, and there is no sign of it abating anytime soon.

In the meantime, the Democrats have moved farther to the left, and the Republicans maintain the right. The two groups now have incompatible interpretations of America. The Republicans embrace the status quo of the country, specifically, Capitalism, the Constitution, belief in God, and traditional values (e.g., citizenship, patriotism, love of family, equality, helping those in need, exceptionalism, and morality). In contrast, the Democrats are now embracing Socialism, they snub references to God, and want to change the historical perspective of the country, that it should be viewed as criminally wicked. Anyone disagreeing with them are called racists.

Where the Democrats want one thing, the Republicans do not, and vice versa. Not surprising the rhetoric has become visceral, which leads us to where we are today; one nation with two distinctly different interpretations of America.

As an aside, if I was to make one suggestion to try and get the two parties talking, it would be to turn off the television cameras in both chambers of Congress as both parties spend more time playing to the television audience and not to themselves. Then again, the media would go bonkers being left out of the discussion.

So when I hear the talking heads on television ask why we cannot find common ground, I contend there isn’t any and we should stop kidding ourselves. I do not foresee the Democrats or Republicans changing anytime soon, and the 2020 election becomes a referendum as to which path we must follow. Our choices are left, right, or gridlock. My guess is the American people will again vote for gridlock, and we will wallow in neutral for a few more years.

Keep the Faith!

GETTING READY FOR ROUND 1 WITH THE DEMOCRATS

Posted by Tim Bryce on June 21, 2019

BRYCE ON POLITICS

– What to expect in next week’s debates.

Click for AUDIO VERSION.
To use this segment in a Radio broadcast or Podcast, send TIM a request.

Well, it is finally show time, the first round of debates for Democrats seeking to become the party’s presidential candidate. As of now there are 23 officially declared as candidates, with possibly two more waiting in the wings. This is bigger than the 17 Republican candidates who ran in 2016.

In a way, this race among the Democrats reminds me of the Triple Crown in horse-racing. The first race, the Kentucky Derby, historically supports a full field, crowded at the gate. This is greatly reduced over the remaining races, the Preakness and Belmont Stakes. I suspect we’ll see the same in the Democrat debates.

NBC will host the first debate at Miami’s Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, next Wednesday and Thursday, June 26th and 27th, accompanied by their sister networks MSNBC and Telemundo. This makes sense as NBC has long been the media outlet for the party for quite some time. It will be hosted by five NBC personalities: Lester Holt, Savannah Guthrie, Chuck Todd, Rachel Maddow of MSNBC, and José Díaz-Balart of Telemundo.

No more than ten candidates will appear each night. In simple terms, in order to qualify, candidates must either have received more than 65K donations, or a minimum of 1% in a qualified national poll. There will likely be twenty candidates qualified for the first round of debates.

So, what can viewers expect? There will, of course, be the ceremonial bashing of President Trump and the Republicans. They will be accused to mishandling everything from the economy, to immigration, to trade, defense, etc. It will be interesting to see how the moderators address the subject of presidential impeachment which will inevitably come up when the Mueller investigation is mentioned. All of this is to be expected.

Beyond this, the most interesting part of the debate will be how the other candidates will try to take down the front-runner, former VP Joe Biden. This will likely be led by Rep. Beto O’Rourke, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Sen. Kamala Harris, Sen. Corey Booker, and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, all of whom need to take Mr. Biden down in order to further their candidacy. Sen. Bernie Sanders won’t be bashful either, but he will likely leave the main attacks to the others and extol the virtues of his socialist agenda.

Look for Mr. Biden to take a lot of heat for reversing his position on the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits the use of federal funds to subsidize abortions except for special circumstances (e.g., rape, incest, life threatening). Mr. Biden originally supported the amendment back when he was a U.S. Senator, but recently reversed himself to gain political favor from abortion advocates. Look for this issue to ignite an ugly squabble between the candidates, leading to other issues where the candidates differ.

As I have reported, the Democrats have turned decisively to the left. This is most certainly, NOT your father’s party. As such, they desperately do not want to hang on to the past, and why they no longer want Joe Biden. At 76 years of age, the former vice president will be portrayed as past his prime and essentially no different than Hillary Clinton, which the left has long deserted following her defeat in 2016. The far left of the party wants something new and refreshing, which certainly is not Mr. Biden. It may also not be Sen. Bernie Sanders, who will turn 78 in the Fall.

So, in terms of Round 1 of the debates, Yes, we will hear the usual bashing of the Republicans and the President, but the real story will be how the party turns on one of their own. They may preach unity during the debate, but watch them swarm against the front-runner.

Keep the Faith!

WHAT’S GOING ON (WITH THE DEMOCRATS THAT IS)?

Posted by Tim Bryce on May 30, 2019

BRYCE ON POLITICS

– With apologies to Marvin Gaye.

Click for AUDIO VERSION.
To use this segment in a Radio broadcast or Podcast, send TIM a request.

Over the last few months, I have written a series of political essays attempting to explain how the Democrats see the world today. Now I want to put it all together to demonstrate how the party has changed. It is no longer the home of moderates as it has turned to the far-left. In the process, many have abandoned the party, either to join the Republicans or vote independently.

Let’s consider what we know today:

First, in January, the Gallup organization determined 51% of the Democrat Party now consider themselves to be liberal. This is a significant figure as this is the first time Gallup’s polls showed the party was now in the hands of the far-left.

According to the study, here is how DEMOCRATS view themselves:

51% – Liberal
34% – Moderate
13% – Conservative

This also means control of the party is being wrestled away from moderates.

Even though the party is currently gravitating to former VP Joe Biden, who has positioned himself as a moderate presidential candidate, the race is far from over as the far-left desperately wants a more radical candidate. Of the 24 Democrat candidates currently running for president, everyone but Mr. Biden can be described as either a socialist or progressive. In other words, it’s a long time before the presidential candidacy is secured, and the former VP will likely face stiff opposition from his own party.

To this end, there currently appears to be a movement to purge the party of moderates. To illustrate, if you are a Democrat and pro-life, the far-left wants you to either change your mind (and fall in line), or get out of the party completely.

What’s next; if you don’t believe in open borders, should you leave the party? What if you don’t believe in entitlements, gun control, or a redistribution of the wealth? Essentially, they are trying to get their troops in lockstep.

Also from the Gallup poll, conservatives still outnumber liberals by 35% to 26%, and, not surprising, 76% of Republicans consider themselves conservative.

Next, the far-left has been making some outrageous leftist demands, things moderates have deliberately avoided over the years as it was considered political suicide. For example, presidential hopeful Sen. Bernie Sanders in a recent CNN Town Hall meeting, insists convicted prisoners and terrorists, like the Boston Marathon bomber, should have the right to vote from prison.

In the beginning of our Republic, only land owners could vote in elections. The premise here was that only RESPONSIBLE people should vote as they would do what was best for the country overall. This has evolved over the years to include others, such as women, former slaves, and young people, all of whom were assumed to vote RESPONSIBLY. The fact prisoners and terrorists are incarcerated means THEY ARE A DANGER TO SOCIETY and, as such, forfeits their rights, such as freedom, owning a gun, and, Yes, voting.

From my perspective, we already have too many IRRESPONSIBLE voters, people who couldn’t pass a simple civics test if their life depended on it. I am still convinced people should pass such a test to be allowed to vote.

This was followed recently by Sen. Sanders declaring abortion is a “constitutional right,” an apparent response to the recent state abortion bans just passed. There is, of course, nothing in the Constitution regarding abortion, yet the far-left would have people think otherwise.

Taking it a step further, another presidential hopeful, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) recently said today’s anti-abortion laws are “against Christian faith.” In other words, she believes it is Christian to abort a fetus just before birth.

Not to be outdone, presidential candidate Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) recently raised eye-brows by calling for a federal ban on “Right-To-Work” (RTW) laws in the United States, an obvious pandering to American unions to support her candidacy. Other Democrat candidates will likely follow suit.

As we discussed in an earlier column, the Mercatus Center at George Mason University, ties financial success in state governments to RTW (and political parties), whereby the Top Ten states all have RTW laws and are run by Republicans, and the Bottom Ten do not have RTW and are run by Democrats (with the exception of Kentucky which just adopted RTW legislation in 2017).

Democrats currently support reparations for former slaves, including Former Texas Rep. Beto O’Rourke, Former Secretary of HUD Julian Castro, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (MA), and Sen. Cory Booker (NJ), all well known liberal candidates.

As I indicated earlier, why do they want reparations from Americans only and not the Africans who sold them into slavery to begin with? And what about the northerners who fought to free the slaves; why should they be forced to pay for it, or any Republican for that matter as they were the party of Lincoln, aka The Abolitionists? Come to think of it, the Democrats should be footing the bill as they represented Southern interests and were the slave owners (and introduced Jim Crow laws to thwart Reconstruction).

This is being done in an attempt to keep African-Americans in the Democrat’s corner, as they are very much concerned of the recent economic prosperity triggered by President Trump.

Next, we come to gun control, where Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) is proposing a gun licensing program and a ban on assault rifles. Likewise, Sen. Kamala Harris said, if elected, she would sign an executive order mandating background checks and more stringent regulations of gun manufacturers.

Finally, we come to the issue of God and organized religion. Gallup recently released an interesting report discussing the erosion of attendance and membership in organized religion.

They claim membership in churches, synagogues, and mosques has reached a new low, 50%. From 1938 to 1999, membership averaged 70%, but since then it has steadily declined to its current level.

Republicans show a modest 8 point decline in terms of membership, dropping from 77% to 69%. However, Democrats showed a more dramatic decline, going from 71% to 48%, that’s a 23 point drop.

There are other indicators of lack of support for God from the Democrats:

* Elimination of “So Help Me God” in swearing-in ceremonies from House committee meetings.

* Elimination of Irving Berlin’s “God Bless America,” and calling into question the integrity of famed singer, Kate Smith.

The anomalies to common sense seems to be endless.

THE 4-C’s

It is perfectly obvious the Democrats are rebelling against the 4-C’s of Republicanism:

1. Christianity – Democrats are not only abandoning church, they are working to subvert it because of the moral values involved. In short, they have become the anti-God party.

2. Capitalism – Democrats are trying to replace it with Socialism in order to expand government control and create dependencies (aka, “Master/Slave” relationship). Democrats have abandoned the concept of “earning a living,” preferring entitlements instead. Again, this is training people to accept a Master/Slave relationship.

Today, you hear the expression, “Democratic Socialism”—this is nothing more than an attempt to implement Socialism under the Constitution. The problem is, capitalism requires freedom to work as expressed in the Constitution, Socialism does not, requiring control instead, thereby putting our governing document in peril.

And let us not forget, they do not understand the concept of Democracy. The fact remains, we live in a constitutional Republic, not a Democracy. The Democrats themselves do not operate as a Democracy, but rather as a Republic. I defy them to show me one country in the world that operates as a true Democracy. They are either Republics, a Monarchy, or Dictatorship.

3. Constitution – The Democrats have made numerous attempts to undermine our governing document, as it is perceived as an antiquated encumbrance against the Democrat agenda. This is why they wish to eliminate the Electoral College, change the makeup of the Supreme Court, implement gun control, and other changes to our Bill of Rights. It’s all about control, not freedom.

4. Conservative values – These are values developed over the country’s history and include such things as love of country (patriotism), citizenship, reverence for family, belief in deity, being a good neighbor, lending a helping hand, etc.

Consider, for example, the Democrat controlled House of Representatives voted recently 236-173 in favor of the “Equality Act,” which would require schools to include male athletes who identify as transgender girls on female sports teams.

The fact remains, the Democrats have developed a set of moral values diametrically opposed to conservatives in an attempt to redefine history, government, freedoms and rights.

According to Gallop polls in 2017 and 2018, liberal positions have led to a sharp decline in morality in the country as we know it today. This is greatly assisted by the entertainment and news media who no longer feel restrained from promoting liberal values and demeaning those of conservatives.

Not surprising, Democrats are beginning to panic about the anti-abortion bills as put forth by states such as Missouri, Alabama, Louisiana, and Georgia, which will inevitably lead to a challenge of Roe vs. Wade.

They are also scared of what will be uncovered by AG Bill Barr’s investigation of the origins of the Russia probe. This is one reason why they are desperately insisting on the impeachment of the president, even though it will not pass the senate and will ultimately cost them the 2020 election.

One last note in this regard, when was the last time you heard a Democrat publicly say, “I love this country”? The truth is, today’s Democrats, as represented by the far-left, do not.

SO, WHAT HAVE WE LEARNED?

1. No, this is not your father’s Democrat party. It has shifted to the radical left. If the party nominates former VP Joe Biden as their candidate for president, look for a new socialist party to emerge. They will fight him tooth-and-nail, and keep him away from the party platform.

2. As we should all know by now, they will do anything to win, including cheating. Why? Because they are morally corrupt. We saw this in Florida during the midterm elections where they tried to steal votes on more than one occasion. We must remain vigilant against the Democrat threat.

3. Education is the key to combat Democrats. They are counting on an ignorant and gullible public to swallow their tripe. Republicans have to teach youth the differences between Capitalism VS Socialism, Democracy versus Republic, Freedom versus Entitlements and slavery. We need to reclaim civics and American History in public education, and above all else, teach the Constitution of the United States.

It frightens me to realize I knew more about civics and history by 5th Grade, than today’s High School graduates.

The differences between yesterday’s and today’s Democrats are so pronounced, one has to wonder if mental health problems have reached pandemic proportions. It appears to have started under the Clintons, and propagated by the Obamas. Maybe there is something in the water after all.

So, “what’s going on?” An overthrow of the American government. Not since the period before the American Civil War has the country been so sharply divided. Only one interpretation of the “American Dream” can remain. It will either be based on the Constitution and the values of our past, or a new radically different society will emerge.

Friends, we can ill-afford to rest on our laurels; complacency got us in the mess, now we have to recover for the sake of the country. It is now time to get to work.

SOMETHING DOESN’T ADD UP

BRYCE ON POLITICS

– The Democrats’ perspective of our country.

As I watch the televised news and listen to Democrats, particularly the younger generation, be it on college campuses, the streets, or protesting in the halls of Congress, I am struck by their naivety in terms of our government, our history, and the concept of earning a living. I look at them and cannot believe what I am witnessing. It simply doesn’t add up. To illustrate…

Democrats, both young and old, seem to believe our country is a Democracy, when it really is a Republic, something they simply fail to grasp. No doubt they would be surprised to learn there is no country in the world based on democracy, least of all ours. As a result, they do not comprehend the necessity of such things as the Electoral College. They understand popularity contests, probably from watching too many reality shows, but they do not know how to achieve fair parity between urban and rural America.

Young Democrats naively believe socialism is a better economic system than capitalism. The fact socialism has consistently failed over the years and around the world is immaterial to them. They claim they want “fairness for all” (translation: a redistribution of the wealth), yet capitalism puts everyone on the same footing and says, “Go!”, whereby some will win, some will come in second or third, and some will fail. It all depends on the effort we exert, but we recognize nobody is going to give us anything for nothing, unless of course, socialism is allowed to supersede capitalism.

Young Democrats naively believe they have the right to do anything they want. Actually, their rights and freedoms are ultimately defined by the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights, something few have read. Sure, they have the right to ask questions and seek the truth, but they do not have the right to run amok and cause anarchy.

They seem to believe all presidential candidates are required by law to reveal their tax records, when in reality, they do not. They believe the public is entitled to an unredacted version of the Mueller report, which they are not, nor is the Congress for that matter. They further believe the reports of an emergency at the southern border are fabricated and the president has no right to declare a “National Emergency” to quell the problem. The Supreme Court will likely rule in favor of the president on this one.

Young Democrats believe they are entitled to just about everything, be it housing, food, communications, education, transportation, and health care. The concept of earning their way through life is foreign to them, thus promoting the concept of entitlements.

So, how did this come about? First, public education has failed miserably in teaching history, government, economics, and citizenship. This has deteriorated to the point our youth have become dangerous as they are grossly misinformed. I knew more by 5th grade years ago than the average High School graduate knows today.

Blame should also be placed on parents for failing to teach such subjects, as well as the concepts of work ethic, responsibility, and moral values. Finally, we have to point a finger at the media for misleading people and distorting reality.

What then can be done to solve this problem? If everyone understood some basics, I am convinced the rhetoric would be less visceral. Instead of respectful discussion, they have taken to boisterous, uncouth, and bullying behavior to sway people, which only impresses themselves, not the other party they are trying to convince. In fact, it causes the other party to embrace the opposing viewpoint. The Democrats have traded in reason and persuasion for programmable talking points. For example, they insist President Trump is a pathological liar. In contrast, I have yet to see anyone of authority in the Democrat party answer a question directly, and regularly catch them misinforming the public. Yet, when this is pointed out, it is dismissed out of hand and I am vilified.

What to do? Education is the key. Since they couldn’t learn it from Public Education, their Parents, or the Media, they have to learn it on their own.

First, there is the U.S. Constitution itself which can be found on the Internet for free. This should be read individually and discussed in groups to determine the rationale for the various parts of the document. To assist in this regards, may I suggest…

“The 5000 Year Leap: A Miracle that Changed the World,” by W. Cleon Skousen. This is an easy read and explains the various parts of the Constitution. It sells for about $12-$20 and is available from Barnes and Noble, and Amazon. This makes an excellent holiday gift suitable for students in High School and College. In my humble opinion, all young people should be given a copy of this book as it describes the mechanics of our government. Think of it as a crash course in Civics.

“Elementary Catechism of the Constitution of the United States” (1828) by Arthur J. Stansbury – for many years, school children learned this catechism. It is just as relevant today as it was nearly 200 years ago. It is available free of charge as a PDF file on the Internet.

I have difficulty relating to the young Democrats of today, let alone sparring with them. I tend to look at them as aliens with three eyes, speaking a strange tongue I do not comprehend, all because they are uninformed about how our government works. This helps to explain the fissure between left and right in this country. It’s not just that they do not understand how the government works, they simply couldn’t care less.

Maybe what is really needed is to have citizens pass a certification test in order to vote. I can dream can’t I?

NO SURPRISE HERE: DEMOCRATS ARE LIBERAL

Posted by Tim Bryce on January 9, 2019

BRYCE ON POLITICS

– At least, according to Gallup.

Click for AUDIO VERSION.
To use this segment in a Radio broadcast or Podcast, send TIM a request.

The Gallup organization has just published an on-going study on trends in political ideology, titled, “U.S. Still Leans Conservative, but Liberals Keep Recent Gains” (Jan 8th). Not surprising, conservatives continue to outnumber liberals by 35% to 26%. Nor is it a surprise that 76% of Republicans consider themselves conservative.

The startling news here is, for the first time ever, the majority of Democrats now consider themselves liberal as opposed to moderate or conservative. Whereas I have always thought of Democrats as being liberal, I have had many Democrats over the years push back claiming this is simply not so. Now, according to Gallup, there is evidence confirming this suspicion. Whereas is was 50% in 2017, it went up a single tick (51%) in 2018, to push them over the top to clinch the majority.

According to the study, here is how DEMOCRATS viewed themselves:

51% – Liberal
34% – Moderate
13% – Conservative

And here is how REPUBLICANS viewed themselves:

76% – Conservative
22% – Moderate
04% – Liberal

Last, but certainly not least, here is how INDEPENDENTS saw themselves:

45% – Moderate
28% – Conservative
22% – Liberal

Not surprising, it is the Moderate Independents that both parties are wooing as we approach 2020. Conservatives and liberals have their own unique perspective, but is is the moderates the news media is after in terms of shaping their opinion.

Interestingly, the study reveals there are two groups perfectly balanced between being conservative and liberal: Women and Latinos. These groups are also up for grabs.

In a related study, “Record Numbers of Americans Want to Leave the U.S.,” Gallup reveals 16% of the populace want to move out of the country, preferably to Canada. According to the study, the pristine candidate desiring to leave the country are women between the ages of 15-29, and representing the most poor.

I hope they know how to read a map. BTW, Canada is just north of the United States.

Keep the Faith!

TRUMP: SEVEN DAYS IN JUNE

Posted by Tim Bryce on June 19, 2018

BRYCE ON POLITICS

– And why it upsets Democrats.

Click for AUDIO VERSION.
To use this segment in a Radio broadcast or Podcast, send TIM a request.

From June 8th-14th, we witnessed something special, something that doesn’t occur too often, an American president traveling the globe to bring about peace and prosperity for not only our country but the world as well. This was unlike other presidential trips in that a new type of president was making the rounds, Donald “The Energizer Bunny” Trump, representing a clever negotiator with boundless energy. Not only was he willing to go to bat for the American people, but he also represented the interests of many others around the globe including Europe, Japan, China, even Russia. As if his negotiations didn’t keep him busy enough, he kept us informed by frequently Tweeting his thoughts.

The first stop for Mr. Trump was the G-7 meeting in Canada where the trade imbalance between the United States and other countries took center stage. Here, the president suggested dropping all tariffs completely, something that was spurned by the other G-7 members. In particular, Canadian PM Trudeau showed his true colors by claiming foul by the president after his departure. This proved he is not a legitimate FRIEND of the United States.

Prior American administrations spoiled other countries by allowing tariffs to exist uncontested, thereby causing our massive TRADE DEFICIT. The president made it clear: the party is over. As Mr. Trump said in his closing remarks, “We’re The Piggy Bank That Everybody’s Robbing.” Unless the tariffs disappear altogether, thereby enabling true free trade, the United States will likely invoke their own.

In turn, the Democrats and Main Stream Media (MSM) warned of the dangers of a trade war, giving the impression they are more concerned with the financial well-being of foreign workers as opposed to American.

The next stop was Singapore where the president met with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to remove nuclear weapons from the Korean peninsula. Their meeting was brief but resulted in a four-part statement agreeing to establish new relations between the two countries, work towards a lasting peace between north and south, work toward denuclearization of the north, and recover the remains of POW/MIA from the Korean War.

Ever the consummate builder/developer, Mr. Trump produced a special VIDEO showing the benefits of peace to the Korean leader. This video demonstrated the president’s in-depth knowledge of North Korea, as well as his salesmanship.

The President said Kim Jong Un was eager to move forward on this agreement and was already starting the process of destroying his rockets and nuclear build-up. In return, the United States temporarily suspended further military exercises with South Korea. In addition, no new sanctions would be added, but existing sanctions would remain in place until progress is made towards the agreement.

They also discussed human rights violations but didn’t commit to a policy at this time. Instead, they saw this brief meeting as an important first step and further talks would address such concerns. However, the biggest problem, denuclearization, which is of major concern to American safety and security, was addressed.

A lot was accomplished in a brief four hour summit. Yet again, the Democrats and Main Stream Media refused to give their stamp of approval and labeled it a “bust” instead, claiming Kim Jong Un was somehow the real winner at the summit. They conveniently overlooked President Trump’s “Big Stick” approach which brought the Korean Chairman to the table. Teddy Roosevelt, who was the originator of the “Big Stick” approach, would have likely used the same tactic for both Korea and the G-7.

The third newsworthy event was the release of the Inspector General’s REPORT reviewing the actions of the FBI and Department of Justice in advance of the 2016 election. The 568 page report essentially noted ethics violations tarnishing the reputation of the FBI and Department of Justice. To quote from the report:

“Nonetheless, when one senior FBI official, Strzok, who was helping to lead the Russia investigation at the time, conveys in a text message to another senior FBI official, Page, ‘No. No he won’t. We’ll stop it’ in response to her question ‘[Trump’s] not ever going to become president, right? Right?!’, it is not only indicative of a biased state of mind but, even more seriously, implies a willingness to take official action to impact the presidential candidate’s electoral prospects. This is antithetical to the core values of the FBI and the Department of Justice.”

Regarding then-Director James Comey’s role in the 2016 investigation, the report states: “While we did not find that these decisions were the result of political bias on Comey’s part, we nevertheless concluded that by departing so clearly and dramatically from FBI and Department norms, the decisions negatively impacted the perception of the FBI and the Department as fair administrators of justice.”

The report obviously vindicates President Trump firing Mr. Comey on May 9, 2017, as well as confirming suspicions of improper behavior by FBI investigators. J. Edgar Hoover should be spinning in his grave.

Interestingly, on the day the report was released, the Democrats had a full court press trying to refute it. I personally received press releases from the Left before the report was even publicly released. The television news media poo-poohed the report in an attempt to minimize damage.

Conclusion

As if this week wasn’t difficult enough, Mr. Trump had to bear the weight of Democrats and the Main Stream Media taunting and berating his every move like sore losers. The criticism was so loud, he should receive the Noble Peace Prize simply for fighting them.

The Left has become unglued over the president’s success, causing such people as actor Robert DeNiro to frequently drop the F-bomb on the president at the recent Tony Awards. In reality, celebrities like DeNiro are doing the GOP a favor as their crass language and rude behavior only strengthens the resolve of the Republicans to turn out the vote. It is also a turnoff to independent voters which Democrats desperately need in November.

Remarkably, the Left openly yearns for the economy to crumble and the country to slip into a recession so the President cannot be re-elected in 2020. Whereas the President offers an approach based on capitalism with fewer taxes and smaller government, which has led to our current era of prosperity, the Left offers a socialist agenda with higher taxes and bloated government, an approach which failed under President Obama.

Democrats possess a “glass half empty” mentality as opposed to “half full.” They are genuinely hoping for the economy to fail, for Korean peace talks to fall apart, and the trade talks to crumble. Translation: they want a failed economy, high unemployment, war in Korea, and foreign governments to gouge American taxpayers, for if the president succeeds, they know they will fail in November. They simply have no alternative proposals to offer American voters other than to “Stop Trump.” Instead, they besmirch the president’s character hoping voters will follow suit. The only problem is the voters are not buying into their argument and see the president’s efforts in a positive light. The desperation by the Left as expressed herein means one thing; this is the beginning of the end of the Progressive grip on the Democrats (which I now like to refer to as “The Regressives”).

While prospects for the future dimmed for Democrats this week, Republican candidates supporting Mr. Trump gained traction by winning key primaries on Tuesday, the 12th, including South Carolina, Nevada, and Virginia. So much for the “Never Trumpers.”

Yes, June 8th-14th will likely go down in the history books as a turning point in America; where we moved away from a reactive management style to a proactive one.

As for the president, not bad for a man who just celebrated his 72nd birthday on Thursday. One nice present was given to him by Norway’s governing Progress Party, a nomination for the NOBEL PEACE PRIZE, making him eligible for next year’s award, something the press didn’t want you to know.

As to the upcoming midterm elections, all I can say is, “Game-Set-Match.”

Keep the Faith!
