WHAT IT MEANS TO VOTE FOR HILLARY CLINTON

BRYCE ON POLITICS

– What can we assume about a vote for Mrs. Clinton?

I’m trying to figure out why people will vote for Hillary Clinton in the November presidential election. Certainly, many will vote due to their loyalty to the Democratic party, or simply because she is a woman, or they believe the spin of the Main Street media. Some will vote for Mrs. Clinton because they despise Donald Trump. Am I getting warm?

By voting for Hillary Clinton you believe she is fit to lead and administer our country. Beyond this, what else does it represent?

It means you are willing to overlook the indiscretions of the Clinton family and either deem them frivolous or blame the Republicans for the accusations. Either way, we cannot ignore the fact four Americans died in Benghhazi under her watch: Ambassador Chris Stephens, Sean Smith, Tyrone Woods, and Glen Doherty. These men could have been saved had Secretary Clinton acted promptly. “What difference at this point does it make?” Plenty, as she will not be able to command the respect of the military.

It means you prefer a liberal Supreme Court. Mrs. Clinton will likely make liberal appointments, as her husband did when he was in office, where he appointed Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Stephen Breyer.

It means you believe our reputation in the world community is positive and will continue to flourish; that we do not “lead from behind.”

It means you are satisfied with the current status quo of the Obama administration, as Mrs. Clinton admits to embracing and perpetuating the Obama agenda. This means:

* Our Federal Debt will grow unabated. It is currently at approximately $19.5 trillion.

* We should continue to resist the implementation of a balanced budget.

* You accept a diminishing Gross Domestic Product (GDP) which is currently at a paltry 1.4%.

* That gridlock between the President and the Congress is acceptable and should remain the norm.

* That our government is competent and demonstrates good leadership.

* Our current policies for fighting terrorism are fine, as is our stance on immigration.

* The political and racial divides in the country are unfortunate but acceptable.

In other words, it is acceptable to you that the country spends more than it earns. It also means you believe our standard of living and productivity is satisfactory. More importantly, it means you believe the country is better off than just four years ago.

In all likelihood, you believe the main street media is unbiased, fair and accurate in their reporting, as are polls and fact checkers. In addition, you have more of an inclination towards socialism as opposed to capitalism, and you possess liberal social values. Further, you consider the social mores of today antiquated and in need of change. You also question the need for patriotic acts and symbols. It is also likely you believe the political system is not rigged, particularly the Democratic Party. If I were to bet, you probably have a weak sense of American history.

If you vote for Mrs. Clinton, you are saying you accept the status quo as established by President Obama.

However, if you happen to vote for Donald Trump, you are refuting these current conditions and recognizing a major change is in order for Washington, DC; that the politicians, lobbyists, and journalists are less interested in serving the public, and more concerned with lining their pockets with money.

So, our choice is simple: We either perpetuate the Obama legacy or you vote to change the status quo. It’s not a matter of a particular person, it’s a matter of our perspective on government.

If you are, “As mad as Hell and not going to take it anymore,” it’s time to step up to the voting booth and make a difference.

A LOOK BACK AT HILLARY CLINTON’S RECORD

– A history lesson.

I never understood the fascination with Hillary Clinton as a presidential candidate. If she were a Republican, the press would have torn her to shreds.

In his book, “This Town,” author Mark Leibovich described how the press fawns over the Clintons and treats them like royalty. In 2016, the media has once again gone to bat for the Clintons in order to maintain the Washington establishment and is hounding her chief rival, Donald Trump. Today, most people have forgotten her husband was impeached for perjury and obstruction of justice during his term as president and was suspended from practicing law. The Democrats have forgiven him, blamed the Republicans, and now treat him like as a rock star. Go figure.

After narrowly losing to President Obama in 2008, the presidency is now within Hillary’s grasp, but you have to wonder if she is up to the task. Certainly her husband will become the Commander-in-the-Shadows, and will try to run things behind the scenes, but the big question is whether Hillary can stand on her own two feet. As a public office holder, she has served in various capacities, e.g., First Lady, Senator from New York, and Secretary of State, but you have to wonder what exactly she has accomplished during this time.

There is no question, she is well educated, graduating with distinction from Wellesley College, and earning a law degree from Yale Law School. Her senior thesis at Wellesley was a critique of the tactics of Saul Alinksky, the well-known radical community organizer. It is during her years at Wellesley where she switched political philosophies and became a Democrat, and campaigned for George McGovern in 1972.

Professionally, she was the first female partner at the Rose Law Firm where her earning power sustained the Clintons for several years.

She served two stints as “First Lady,” starting in Arkansas when her husband was governor, and of course in the White House from 1993 – 2001. During the White House years, her big initiative was the Clinton health care plan which failed to pass Congress, representing a major defeat. During this time, she was plagued by several investigations, such as the Whitewater controversy, Madison Guaranty, Travelgate, Filegate, and the apparent suicide of White House counsel Vince Foster. All of this, coupled with the president’s Monica Lewinsky scandal, which led to his impeachment, left a dark cloud over the Clinton administration.

After leaving the White House, Mrs. Clinton replaced Daniel Patrick Moynihan as Senator from New York. She began her tenure by building relationships and serving on a variety of committees. Following 9/11 she voted to support military action in both Afghanistan and Iraq. She was also instrumental in obtaining funding for redevelopment of the World Trade Center in her home state. Domestically, she voted against President Bush’s tax cut packages, which passed in spite of her objections.

During her second term she voted against the 2007 troop surge in Iraq, which was passed, and favored a war-spending bill that tried to set a deadline to withdraw troops from Iraq, which failed.

In 2007 she campaigned for president and narrowly lost the Democratic candidacy to Barack Obama. Following this, she was appointed Secretary of State under Obama where she served during the president’s first term. In the early days, she contacted several world leaders to inform them changes to foreign policy were in the offing, “We have a lot of damage to repair.” This was tied to the perceived Obama “apology tour.”

It was on her watch, in 2011, when the “Arab Spring” began which ignited political tensions and upset the balance of power in the Middle East. It also led to the Libyan Civil War where America was accused of “leading from behind” in deposing the Gaddafi dictatorship. Her career in the State department essentially came to an end following the 2012 9/11 attack on the American diplomatic mission in Benghazi where four Americans were killed, including Ambassador Chris Stevens.

In the Benghazi aftermath, during the U.S. House Oversight Committee hearing on May 8, 2013, Mrs. Clinton was evasive and combative in her testimony, leading to the regretful comment, “What difference – at this point, what difference does it make?” This smacked of arrogance and defiance of Congress and will certainly haunt her on the campaign trail. This was followed by Congressional investigations, not just on events there, but also on Mrs. Clinton’s use of e-mail and a private server. Now the Clinton Foundation is coming under scrutiny.

Mrs. Clinton may have had a colorful career in politics, but the question remains, “What exactly did she accomplish?” Serving in office is one thing, accomplishing something is entirely different. The Clinton Health Care program failed on her watch. She made no significant contribution as Senator, and her career in the State Department will forever be mired in Benghazi. I think the voters are looking for something a little more substantial than her book, “It Takes a Village,” which she wrote as First Lady using a ghostwriter. After twenty years of public service, you would think there would be some major contribution she could point to with pride. Sadly, there is nothing. Her contributions can be described as negligible at best.

So, why the fascination with Hillary? Feminists will, of course, push for Hillary to become the first female president. The Democrats have alleged the GOP is conducting a “War on Women.” This was crafted with Hillary in mind and, as such, it is intentionally fallacious.

There is an alternate reason though, the Democrats want to slip Bill Clinton into the White House through the back door. As much as the feminists love Hillary, the Democrats want to put a match set into the White House. So, Yes, Bill Clinton’s legacy during his first term still matters, warts and all. However, one cannot help but wonder if the country can withstand any more Clinton controversies.

A couple of years ago, I heard comedian Jackie Mason make the comparison of Mrs. Clinton to an airline pilot’s wife. He asked, if the pilot becomes indisposed and cannot fly the plane, does it make sense to ask his wife to captain the plane in his place? In the case of Mrs. Clinton, she may know the ropes, but she hasn’t proven herself behind the wheel. She certainly hasn’t delivered anything of substance which would lead us to believe she is qualified to be president. Then again, we elected a community organizer to the White House and we saw what happened to the country.

REVIEW: “HILLARY’S AMERICA”

Posted by Tim Bryce on August 29, 2016

BRYCE ON POLITICS

– A history lesson on Democratic politics.

(Click for AUDIO VERSION)
To use this segment in a Radio broadcast or Podcast, send TIM a request.

I recently saw the movie, “Hillary’s America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party,” by filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza who is known for his conservative politics and films, such as the 2012 movie, “2016: Obama’s America is a 2012 documentary film.” He deliberately scheduled the release of his latest film just prior to the start of the Democratic convention in Philadelphia where Hillary Clinton was nominated for president.

The film is an interesting mixture of documentary, history, conservative politics, and Hillary bashing. I am confident liberal Democrats will avoid it like the plague, but it is worthwhile for young people to see, if for no other reason, the historical significance of the film.. I happened to watch it on a Saturday afternoon and I estimated the attendance in the theater was approximately 90%, not bad.

The movie begins with Dinesh D’Souza’s conviction for making an excessive campaign contribution. He claims such an offense normally results in a person’s wrist being slapped, but because of his 2012 movie regarding President Obama, he was prosecuted more zealously than others. He was sentenced to six months in prison and five years of community service and probation.

While in prison, he met many different criminals. More importantly, he learned about gangs and how they operate which is essentially no different than politicians such as Mrs. Clinton. He claimed their aim is to con people out of their money, and deny any wrongdoing.

This led to an historical review of the founding of the Democratic party, from Andrew Jackson’s time to the present. D’Souza claimed the Democrats were pro-slavery and fought the Republicans at every turn to free them. During the Civil War, for example, the north was led by Republicans, and the South led by Democrats. After the war, Democrats fought against reconstruction and wrote the Jim Crow laws. This led to the rise of the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) which was started by Democrats and perseveres to this day. D’Souza contends President Woodrow Wilson was a supporter of the KKK, as was Margaret Sanger who founded Planned Parenthood in 1916. The movie claimed Planned Parenthood opened birth control clinics in inner cities as a means to control the black populace.

For many years, blacks voted Republican. This began to change during the Great Depression where Democratic President Franklin Roosevelt offered his “New Deal” program, which blacks gravitated towards.

D’Souza spent time discussing the rise of Progressive politics. Americans should understand the term “progressive” goes back to the Progressive Era which is considered the period between the 1890s to 1920s. This was an important movement aimed at cleaning up political corruption in government and women’s suffrage, among other things. A diverse set of noteworthy people belonged to the movement including Andrew Carnegie, Thomas Edison, Charles Evans Hughes, John D. Rockefeller, Jr., Booker T. Washington, Upton Sinclair, and Republican Presidents William Howard Taft and Theodore Roosevelt (who implemented many such reforms during his presidency).

More recently, the “Progressive Democrats of America” (PDA) was formed in 2004 primarily by supporters of Dennis Kucinich and Howard Dean. Make no mistake, it is not working in concert with moderate Democrats or Republicans, and it is most definitely not conservative in nature. The term “progressive” was deliberately selected to conjure up images from a bygone era.

One could deduce if you are not in agreement with the “progressive” point-of-view then you would be an “obstructionist” and therefore an impediment to progress. This is a very clever way of manipulating public perceptions for political gain, something the media seems more than willing to advance.

To me, “progressive” is subliminal brainwashing of the worst kind as it is misleading the public to believe their policies are not liberal in nature and therefore are more positive and palatable to implement. The reality is that “progressive” is a misnomer as it represents the doctrine of the left. One could, therefore, correctly assume that “progressives” are nothing more than liberals in sheep’s clothing.

D’Souza next discussed Saul Alinsky, the noted community organizer who taught Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, who wrote her senior thesis on this radical figure. It is interesting, Alinsky learned his “community organizer” techniques from Frank Nitty, the #2 man of the Al Capone gang. He learned quickly, “the ends justify the means.” Cheating and immoral behavior was considered perfectly acceptable if it produced the desired results. This concept was also considered a natural part of the gang philosophy as D’Souza discovered while in prison.

He also contends when immigrants came to this country over the years, the Democratic party would befriend them, find them a place to live, usually in squalid conditions, and help them find a low paying job. In return, they demanded the immigrant vote along party lines. Make no mistake, this is similar to what is intended with illegal immigrants today.

The last part of the movie focuses on the Clintons. D’Souza makes a compelling argument that this is a marriage of convenience; she needs Bill due to his charm and political tactics; he needs her to keep him in line. For example, Clinton is portrayed as a sex addict which requires Hillary to come to his aid when such problems become known to the public. By doing so, she was enabling his sexual desires.

More importantly, D’Souza discusses the millions of dollars being obtained for the Clinton Foundation. As Bill accepted handsome donations to the fund, Hillary would help the person or group making the donation, using her position as Secretary of State at the time.

Following the earthquake in Haiti, the Clintons solicited money from the public to rebuild the country. None of the money was used for relief, but to help build a factory on another part of the island.

Although the movie is obviously biased against the Clintons, it is a good history lesson for youth, and something everyone should see before voting in November.

The one question D’Souza didn’t address, is why the main street media defends the Clintons. Without the media, the Clintons are truly vulnerable. One can only surmise that the press is in it for the money as well.

BOOK REVIEW: “CRISIS OF CHARACTER”

Posted by Tim Bryce on August 10, 2016

BRYCE ON POLITICS

– How Hillary Clinton is perceived by the Secret Service.

(Click for AUDIO VERSION)
To use this segment in a Radio broadcast or Podcast, send TIM a request.

I read “Crisis of Character” over the 4th of July weekend (Center Street Publishing; 285 pages). It’s the new controversial book by Gary J. Byrne, former presidential secret service officer who served both George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton while in office, including during the Monica Lewinsky affair and his impeachment proceedings.

Byrne considers himself a loyal and patriotic American who served the country in law enforcement. He began his career in the United States Air Force Security Police, before moving on to the Uniformed Division of the U.S. Secret Service, and finally ending his career as a Federal Air Marshal. From his writings, he claims to believe in God, the Constitution, and his duty to his country. He gave no hint of his political preferences as he felt it was immaterial to the jobs he performed.

In the book, Byrne claims the White House Secret Service agents had a fondness for “Papa Bush” (George H.W. Bush) who treated them with kindness and respect. This all changed with the Clinton administration who found the secret service to be an obstacle as opposed to a natural part of White House life. In one instance, Hillary Clinton insisted a Secret Service agent move baggage from the White House into a limo. Such a request would mean the agent’s hands would not be free to access weapons or communications, and he would be distracted from his job. The Clintons didn’t understand this and became infuriated with the agent.

Byrne claimed President Clinton was one of the most charming and engaging men he ever met. In the White House, he was not really the problem, it was the First Lady who possessed a volcanic personality and managed her staff by intimidation. From her perspective, the Clintons were a Royal Monarchy and everyone should treat them as such. Unfortunately, her Atilla the Hun personality caused a sense of paranoia among her staff. People were hesitant to deliver bad news to her in fear of suffering her wrath.

As a couple, Byrne claims the Clintons were only lovey-dovey for the cameras. It was all facade. In reality, there were numerous yelling tirades, primarily led by the First Lady. He also tells of an incident where the President inexplicably comes to work one day with a black eye covered with makeup.

Byrne was also charged in safeguarding the President’s office and was the last line of defense before allowing people to see Mr. Clinton. In the book, he describes how Monica Lewinsky tried to sneak into the Oval Office, fabricating excuses which the Secret Service didn’t believe and prevented her on numerous occasions from meeting with the president. However, her persistence paid off and she finally gained access to the president. The point is, the Secret Service tried to protect the president from himself.

Interestingly, throughout the book, Byrne complains how bureaucratic procedures and political correctness often interfered with getting the job done, be it in the Secret Service or Federal Air Marshal service. Even though there is concern for saying and acting a certain way, there is evidently no sense of adapting to situations. He contends building character is more important than bureaucracies and p.c., hence the name of his book.

In the book, when it comes to the Clintons, their modus operandi is “deny-deny-deny” everything and assume responsibility for nothing. This was apparent during the Monica Lewinsky case, Paula Jones, Vince Foster, Filegate, Travelgate, Whitewater, etc.

Byrne also made a comparison of the Benghazi incident to 1993 Somalia and “Black Hawk Down,” whereby the Clintons put people in harm’s way and denied them the proper support. This was done so people wouldn’t look upon America as invaders.

The author’s take on character is summarized towards the end of the book, where he discusses Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State during the Benghazi incident:

“I don’t care if Hillary Clinton watched caskets come home behind Secret Service protection at Andrews Air Force Base. That’s not leadership. Character in leadership comes down to two questions: Would you trade places with anyone under your command? Do you hold yourself to the same level of accountability as those for whom you bear responsibility? Would Mrs. Clinton have been willing to trade places with Chris Stevens and Sean Smith? No. She was too busy swapping gossip and classified information with Clinton loyalist Sidney Blumenthal.”

In other words, never ask your people to do something you are not prepared to do yourself. The end result, failed confidence in leadership and dampened morale. “We all wondered, ‘Will they come for us if we’re attacked? Will they stand by us? Does “no man left behind” mean a damned thing? Will they even tell the truth after I’m gone?'”

According to Byrne, “Let’s say it straight out: Hillary Clinton lied about the reason for the Benghazi attack. She lied to the nation as a whole and she lied to the faces of the grieving family members of those who died there – and then lied about her lying.”

Byrne implies the Clintons operated under the assumption “the ends justify the means” which sacrifices truth and honesty, and justifies their tactic of “deny-deny-deny.”

Byrne’s thesis is simple and true: Character is of paramount importance. Without character, how can you effectively lead, and who can you trust?

The question is, does anyone care anymore? The fact the Clintons have gotten away with this for so long, leads me to believe, No, we no longer care. Sadly, this is indicative of the decline of our moral values.

THE CLINTON DIRTY TRICKS DEPARTMENT

BRYCE ON POLITICS

– What shenanigans will they pull before November?

(Click for AUDIO VERSION)

I do not believe Donald Trump realizes who he is competing against in this presidential election. When it comes to politics, the Clintons have shown they will say or do anything to get elected. To illustrate, Mark Leibovich’s 2013 book, “This Town,” provided an excellent assessment of the political culture in the nation’s capitol, including how the press fawns over the Clintons and treats them like royalty. In the book, the author mentions a remark Bill Clinton made to Hillary whereby should his health continue to deteriorate and he dies on the 2016 campaign trail, she should use it to create a lavish funeral which would generate millions of sympathy votes for her. Personally, I found this train of thought somewhat morbid, but is indicative of how the Clintons think, namely “win at all costs,” regardless if it is moral or not.

As Trump’s stature grows and passes Hillary in the polls, the Clintons will inevitably need a knockout punch. They will need an act of desperation, something to rally their troops and call upon the emotions of the public. There are several scenarios, but the most bizarre would be:

* Have Bill feign a life threatening medical condition, and depict Hillary as his loyal wife tending to him at his bedside.

* Have Chelsea fake a kidnapping. The criminals, of course, would never be caught as there aren’t any.

* The most twisted would be to feign an assassination attempt, and make it look like the right was behind it.

Such an event would be designed to cause outrage with Republicans and pull on the heartstrings of Hillary’s supporters. Of course, there will be no evidence or proof of any wrongdoing, and Trump will look heartless if he questions the authenticity of the event.

Keep in mind, the Clintons already have the press digging up as much dirt as possible on Mr. Trump, creating a smoke screen over his policies, and attack him on every syllable he speaks. So, the full court press is already on and the Clintons will be unmerciful.

As the Clintons know, truth and honesty are the first casualties in American politics.

The Donald simply will not know what hit him.

WHY THE FASCINATION WITH HILLARY CLINTON?

BRYCE ON POLITICS

– What precisely has she accomplished as First Lady, Senator, and Secretary of State?

Without a doubt, the 2016 Democratic candidate for President of the United States will be Hillary Rodham Clinton. At age 66, she may have made token rumblings she will not run, but the temptation to become the first female president will be too irresistible for her to resist. In his book, “This Town,” author Mark Leibovich describes how the press fawns over the Clintons and treats them like royalty. The media will once again go to bat for the Clintons as opposed to “Uncle Joe” Biden. Today, most people have forgotten her husband was impeached for sexual misconduct during his term as president.

Mrs. Clinton may have had a colorful career in politics, but the question remains, “What exactly did she accomplish?” The Clinton Health Care program failed on her watch.

The Democrats have alleged the GOP is conducting a “War on Women.” This was likely crafted with Hillary in mind and, as such, it is intentionally fallacious.

About a year ago, I heard comedian Jackie Mason make the comparison of Mrs.
